About Meja
Meja Maison de Bali is a Singapore-based tableware, home decor, and gifting brand bringing the quiet, considered beauty of Balinese living into everyday spaces. Every piece in the Meja collection is designed with a blend of Balinese and French sensibilities — a dialogue between two cultures of craft, material, and quiet elegance. Each design is made slowly, with local materials and artisan partners, rejecting waste in favour of pieces built to be lived with, not replaced.
Our name, Meja, means "table" in both Bahasa Malay and Indonesian. Across Asia, similar words echo the same idea — "meza" in Persian, "mez" in Hindi and Urdu — each tracing back to a shared root for the place where families gather. The table represents where stories unfold and traditions pass from one generation to the next: the beating heart of every home.
Our textile products are made in our own factories in Bogor and Bali, Indonesia. Handwork, rattan, wood, and shell pieces are crafted by artisans within their local communities, while metal and select specialised wooden items are made with our partner workshops in India.
Yes — every piece is handmade in small batches. Meja was built as a deliberate rejection of mass production: rather than scaling up for volume and uniformity, we choose to work at the pace of the artisans and ateliers who make each piece. This means slower production, smaller runs, and slight natural variations in texture, tone, and finish from one item to the next — not flaws, but evidence of a human hand and a process that hasn't been flattened for efficiency.
Everything at Meja starts with an original artwork — nothing is sourced, copied, or picked from an existing catalogue. From there, we take a single theme or inspiration and let an entire collection flow from it, so every piece — from tableware to gifting items — feels like part of the same story rather than a random assortment.
The result is a range that's all in sync: pieces designed to bring your table to life, and gifts that feel unique and consciously created rather than generic. Nothing at Meja is an afterthought — every item exists because it belongs to something larger.
Products & materials
For our textiles, we use pure linen, 100% cotton, and natural blends such as linen-cotton and linen-silk — our fabrics are made from natural fibres, not synthetics. (Small components such as trims, threads, or fastenings may include synthetic elements where needed for durability.) Beyond textiles, our collection includes aluminium, iron, mango wood, acacia wood, and marble, along with rattan and sea grass for woven and natural-fibre pieces.
Care instructions for each piece are available on the individual product pages on our website. For additional guidance or questions, please feel free to contact us — we're happy to help.
Because many of our materials are natural and produced in small batches, slight variations in grain, tone, and texture are normal — and part of each piece's character, not a defect. Wood grain may differ from one item to the next, woven rattan and sea grass will carry their own natural texture, and handwoven or hand-dyed textiles can show subtle differences in colour depth between pieces, or even between different parts of the same piece.
These variations are a result of working with natural materials and human hands rather than uniform, machine-made production — they're part of what makes each piece genuinely one of its own.
It depends on the collection. Our Signature range is designed to be consistently available and restocked as needed, while limited-edition collections are produced in smaller runs and are not restocked once sold out. If you're unsure whether a specific piece will return, feel free to contact us — we're happy to let you know.
We work with natural materials wherever possible, and much of our production is rooted in local, community-based sourcing — working with artisans where the materials are found, rather than shipping raw materials across the world to be processed elsewhere. Combined with our focus on durability over disposability, this means fewer resources spent on production, transport, and replacement over time.

Sizing & dimensions
We offer two napkin sizes to suit different occasions:
Cocktail napkin (26 x 26 cm) — ideal for drinks receptions, canapés, or informal gatherings.
Table napkin (45 x 45 cm) — the standard size for a full place setting at any dining table. Please note that some designs may be offered in a different size to best accommodate the pattern — kindly check the individual product page for the exact dimensions of each design.
Our table mats are offered in a standard size of 33 x 45 cm, which suits most place settings. Some designs may be offered in a different size to best accommodate the pattern — kindly check the individual product page for the exact dimensions of each design.
We offer two runner sizes. Runners look best when they overhang approximately 15–20 cm off each end of your table:
Small (42 x 180 cm) — suits most 4-seater dining tables (e.g. IKEA EKEDALEN and most 140–160 cm tables).
Large (50 x 250 cm) — suits 6-seater tables (180–200 cm tables), or longer 4-seater tables styled with a generous overhang.
If you're unsure which size works for your table, contact us with your table dimensions and we'll advise.
We offer three tablecloth sizes. A standard overhang of 20–30 cm on each side is recommended for a neat finish:
Small (150 x 250 cm) — suits most 4-seater dining tables up to approximately 90 x 160 cm.
Medium (180 x 280 cm) — suits most 6-seater dining tables up to approximately 100 x 200 cm.
Large (200 x 320 cm) — suits 8-seater and above, or large event and banquet tables.
If you're unsure which size works for your table, contact us with your table dimensions and we'll advise.
